What we do....
Insurance Agent Verify was created for participating Agents who need to provide Citizens Property Insurance Corporation with information on their Broker, MGA or Wholesaler appointments. Citizens can quickly and easily verify the Agent's ability to access authorized insurers through appointments they hold with Broker's, MGA's or Wholesalers. The broker and sub-agent appointment data provided via our website is private and may only be viewable by managers at Citizens who are granted access.
How we do it....
Our website is easy and simple. We provide a quick reference database utilizing shortcuts to public records with the FLDFS. Citizens can easily view the licensee status and direct insurance carrier appointments in real time according to public records. The "Brokerage and appointed Sub-Agent's" profile on our site allows Citizens to quickly identify Florida "Agents in Charge" of the Brokerage, MGA or Wholesaler and their appointed Sub-Agents. Citizens may request verification of the Brokerage and Sub-Agent appointment by contacting us via our website or the Brokerage directly. Participating Agents may contact us to request their license be linked to the Broker, MGA or Wholesaler they hold appointments with. Once the agent's appointment is verified the agent's license is recorded and linked to their broker for Citizens to view. We may verify and update records periodically as needed or on an annual basis. Citizens may also verify records independently.
Why we do it....
Insurance Agent Verify is a volunteer site created and managed by an independent insurance agent in Miami, Florida. The site was created to help independent agents in response to CS/CS/HB 1503, amending Florida Statute 627.351 regarding Citizens Property Insurance Corporation Agent Appointment Requirement Rule Change effective July 1st. 2024. Law now requires Citizens appointed agents hold at least three appointments with authorized insurers who are actually writing or renewing residential or commercial property coverage within the state. Citizens has published a list of authorized insurers they deem eligible. According to Citizens rules agents are required to have at least three eligible direct appointments that must be recorded with the FLDFS. Many agents access these eligible insurers through appointments they hold with brokers whose appointments are recorded with the FLDFS. We want Citizens to recognize this. The purpose of Insurance Agent Verify is to give credibility to the Sub-Agent. We would like Citizens to acknowledge the ability agents have to write and renew policies with authorized insurers that require agent access through Broker's, MGA's or Wholesalers. Due to the growing number of insurer insolvencies in recent years, insurance companies not appointing agents and requiring agent access through brokers, we are petitioning the state to amend the law and require Citizens to recognize the agent's ability to write and renew policies with authorized insurers through brokers they hold appointments with. Our goal is to help small independent agencies that are being negatively impacted by the current law and Citizen's rule change. View our FAQ's to learn more.
